I can recommend Anthony Zaya and Tim Diener's book - Timber Frame Hybrids - as a great read for timber frame enthusiasts and timber frame builders alike.
This book expresses why we have, still do and will continue to love timber frame buildings! It also defines the word hybrid in terms of timber framing. A hybrid is about combining two or more ingredients to produce a superior product. Timber is one of these ingredients that more people are choosing to put in the mix when planning their new home or addition. This book artfully explains and illustrates with line drawings and beautiful photos how timber is being used as a wonderful part of a greater whole - in the form of trusses, entrances, exterior accents and more.
The book delves into the history of timber frames up to it`s present day use and identifies the commonalities between the two. Most importantly it invites the reader to explore the possibilities of using timber in the places of their homes that will be seen and appreciated the most.
I recommend that you pick up Timber Frame Hybrids for information and inspiration.
